Chapter 4, The Tempest (Part 2)

Dark Small Medium Large Original Scroll to Bottom

The outdoor items of the dive shop had been thoroughly cleaned. Ye Fei turned on the television and found a documentary about the Coral Sea. She brewed a cup of hot tea, held it in her hands, and sat cross-legged on the floor, waiting for everyone to return. Outside the window, sand and stones flew about, waves surged, and in an instant, the sky darkened and the rain poured down heavily, the sound of water dense, resembling a waterfall cascading down. Suddenly, there was a loud crash; a wooden display board nailed beside the platform was blown down by the wind, landing perfectly at the entrance above the steps. Ye Fei sighed, gritted her teeth, and pulled open the shop door, rushing outside. Ye Fei sighed, gritted her teeth, and pulled open the shop door, rushing outside.

Ye Fei rolled her eyes at him, thinking, you have already acknowledged that I am an employee, are you really expecting me to take it off here

On the beach, one often encounters well-built, shirtless handsome men from various countries, but this was the first time she had seen Chen Jiajun like this. He rarely went out to sea, usually wearing a sports tank top or T-shirt during the day, paired with beach shorts; by night, he might change into a shirt and jeans. There was no excess fat on his body, nor did he possess the bulging muscles typically developed in a gym, yet with every movement, one could distinctly sense the taut skin beneath, with clear and smooth muscle lines. His shoulders were broad, which made his arms appear even longer. Ye Fei saw him for the first time revealing his wide chest and flat, firm waist, his skin, tanned to a wheat color by the sun and sea breeze, glistening with a layer of wetness.

Completely forgotten, this is the norm for men on the beach—Scarface, Songxi, Wanpeng, including Uncle Wenka, who walk around the store like this every day; she should have long been accustomed to it.

She held the towels and handed them out one by one to everyone, asking: "Did you all come back squeezed together on one boat?"

"Put this on," he said, "You don't need to clean up the equipment just yet. Ask everyone what they would like to eat, go to Joy's to place an order, add a grilled fish, and have them prepare some meat skewers. It's on me"

In just over ten minutes, the clouds in the sky had thickened, with sunlight intermittently breaking through the layers. The faint light gray line where the sea met the sky was rapidly expanding, and dark clouds could already be seen rolling in. The gentle sea breeze had intensified, causing the coconut trees at the edge of the beach to sway, their leaves rustling in the wind. A chill swept through the air, and Ye Fei, nearly soaked to the skin, shivered and quickly sought refuge behind the glass door. She glanced at the towel she had brought, initially picking one up to wrap around herself, but after counting the number of people heading into the sea, she set it back down.

A speedboat raced back across the surface of the sea, precisely the one that Wenka had taken away. Just as it reached the shore, the people on board jumped off one after another, shouting and running towards the store, while several staff members pulled the speedboat to the shore. Ye Fei approached and discovered that there was no diving equipment on the boat, yet the number of people on board was twice that of usual.

Fortunately, she was wearing denim shorts on her lower half, which, although completely soaked, did not expose her. Ye Fei covered her chest and ran back to the dive shop, feeling both shy and angry, regretting that she had not worn a simple-cut, smooth-material bra today. The shop was empty except for her, and without a key, it was unrealistic to run back to her dormitory to change clothes. Moreover, Chen Jiajun had insisted that a storm was imminent and had advised her to close the doors and windows. Ye Fei dared not defy the stern-faced boss. She quickened her pace, carefully putting away the books and stationery on the terrace table, collecting the customers' clothes hanging on the rack into the equipment room, tightening the glass windows, securing them with bolts, and stacking several plastic chairs together to move them inside the room.

"Who made you wear that?" He frowned

The boss and the boatman are watching, and he said he wants to repair the boat

"That is our ship!" Chloe stood on the platform, carefully discerning, "Indeed, K.C. They have returned!"

Ye Fei stared at Chen Jiajun in front of her, stunned for a few seconds

Ye Fei pondered amidst the peaks and troughs of the waves, as a small boat and a malfunctioning speedboat were tossed about, feeling somewhat anxious, "I hope they won't drift off to who knows where"

The divers dried their bodies, sipping coffee and hot tea, feeling revitalized as they laughed and talked about what they had seen underwater that day. Chloe pulled out a brand new blue t-shirt and handed it to Ye Fei. When she unfolded it, she saw that it was printed with the name of the dive shop, which was the standard issue for every staff member.

She lowered her head and responded softly, her face flushing as she turned away. Just now, she had been staring at the other person's body, completely forgetting to look away.

Scar stood up and said, "Wait for the rain to lessen a bit, then go greet them."

Chloe said, "Fortunately, there are buoys nearby, and they are secured."

"Such heavy rain, and still working?" Ye Fei raised her eyes and glanced at the ink-like sky outside, where the rain seemed to be pouring down from the heavens. She silently placed the last towel down and walked into Chen Jiajun's office, draping it over the back of his chair.

Chloe rushed over and gave him a big hug, "Boss, thank you for arriving just in time and saving everyone!"

The large raindrops struck her face, making it nearly impossible for her to open her eyes. She shielded her brow with her hand, squinting as she turned sideways to push against the wind. It was a thin board, not very heavy, but lifting it was no easy task; as soon as she raised it slightly, it was pressed down by the fierce wind. Ye Fei did not dare to lift it with the wind, fearing it might fly away and smash against the doors and windows. Therefore, she pulled and dragged it to the side of the water tank, clearing the passageway.

Several employees approached, watching as the speedboat slowly docked at the pier. Chen Jiajun stood at the rear of the small boat, maneuvering the steering wheel. He was wearing a raincoat, and as he sailed against the wind, his hat was blown off, leaving his hair soaked and dripping with water, his lips slightly blue. He strode onto the pier and bent down to secure the mooring line.

Chen Jiajun continued, saying, "The size is incorrect, we will exchange it for another one later"

Wenka shook his head and said, "It's hard to say."

Ye Fei hurried over and, along with everyone else, began unloading equipment from the submarine. Chen Jiajun glanced over and noticed that she was wearing the dive shop's attire, and because her body had not been dried, wet marks had soaked through on her shoulders, chest, and back

He looked at Ye Fei with a half-smile, as he often did, exuding an air of arrogance mixed with a hint of cunning; yet, unlike before, there seemed to be a touch of warmth. His hair was damp from the rain, and he carelessly wiped it, leaving it tousled and defiant. Ye Fei felt that he seemed to have droplets of water clinging to his eyelashes, making his eyes appear even darker and brighter. She heard her heart pounding fiercely, momentarily at a loss for words. She reassured herself that suddenly, the usually intimidating boss stood before her half-naked; which young girl wouldn't feel nervous? She heard her heart pounding fiercely, momentarily at a loss for words. She reassured herself that suddenly, the usually intimidating boss stood before her half-naked; which young girl wouldn't feel nervous? This could only be blamed on his overly casual attire.

A customer replied: "Yes, our boat is broken. The boss sent Wenka over to assist, and the people have returned on this speedboat, while the equipment has been transferred to another boat"

Chen Jiajun walked back into the shop. Despite his robust physique, he still shivered slightly. Fortunately, he was wearing a raincoat, which shielded him from the chill brought by the fierce wind. However, the heavy rain poured in, soaking through the collar and drenching his T-shirt underneath. Inside, there was a laundry basket filled with wet towels used by the guests. Chen Jiajun casually took off his T-shirt and tossed it beside the basket. As he reached the office door, he noticed a dry and tidy towel quietly draped over the back of his chair. He couldn't help but chuckle, picked it up to dry his hair, opened the wardrobe to rummage through it, and called out loudly, "Ye Fei, come here"

Scarface: "It's time to change the engine"

What is wrong, is it far from here? she asked again

"What are you daydreaming about? Hurry up and go!"

Ye Fei put on a T-shirt and recalled her conversation with Chen Jiajun that day, where he said, "I will do my best to protect the employees." As the rain began to pour, this person was sailing in a small boat without any cover, unaware of which sea area he was drifting in. She couldn't help but ask, "How long will it take to repair that boat?"

"What is it?" she replied as she ran over. Just as she entered the room, a piece of clothing was thrown over her head. Catching it in her hands, it was a thick hoodie.

What about the equipment

After several dozen minutes, the wind and rain gradually subsided, or perhaps the cumulonimbus clouds were moving towards the next sea area. A large tear appeared in the dark clouds overhead, and the setting sun cast its rays at an angle. In the distance, two boats, one following the other, slowly sailed into the bay, trailing golden ripples behind them, gently rippling on the surface of the sea

On the way back from the second dive site, Chloe replied, "It's not too far, but there are no small islands nearby. The wind and waves were strong just now, and the boat was rocking heavily on the water, making everyone cold. K.C. and Wenka have already gone over; he said we should bring the customers back first and leave the equipment behind."

Ye Fei put on her hoodie, the fine velvet lining enveloping her body, and she immediately felt warm. This is also a work uniform from the dive shop, with everyone having one. Her name, K. C. Tan, is embroidered on the upper left chest.
